A Taste of Paris: The Cherry and the Cake

The French version of "the icing on the cake" is "the cherry on the cake."

A perfect spring day in Paris today, the flowering cherries are out everywhere–and so are the cakes (and pies and macarons and chocolates) as we inch toward one of the great feasting excuses of the Parisian gourmandizing calendar: Easter…

Feast your eyes for now then come on over and have your own Taste of Paris…

Gerard Mulot, one of my favorite pastry shops in Paris… no cherries on the cakes today but lots of strawberries and raspberries…

Cherries and history… the Hotel de Sens in the Marais… it is fronted by half a dozen gorgeous flowering cherries… and they are ripe today!

Back to Mulot… on Rue de Seine right where it turns into Rue Tournon… near St. Sulpice and the Luxembourg Garden…  and a last bite of eye candy for the day…
